Its nice to hear of good news and achievements in Indonesia...mainly because they are so few and far between.
Sri Mulyani was RI's Finance Minister during the Bank Century fiasco and many blamed her although I don't think she was charged with anything...she went on to be CEO of the World Bank before returning to Jakarta and the Finance Minister post.

Here she is receiving her prize in Dubai.....

Not to detract from Sri Mulyani's accomplishment (I'm not in a position to judge, but everyone I know who is thinks very highly of her), but "Best Minister in the World" is a rather ridiculous name for an award. It sounds like something Donald Trump would make up: "I'm the Best President in the World!" Hyperbolic and simplistic language.

But again, no offense meant to Sri Mulyani. She's had to put up with a lot of grief and unfair accusations, I think.

Puspa's comments post #2 piqued my interest as I'd never heard of "Best minister...etc" before.... so I searched.

I came across another recipient from Australia who, on return after receiving the award, was seriously chastised by his contemporaries...in a very amusing and typically Australian manner.....

Greg Hunt, the greatest minister in the world, accepts his colleagues' acclaim
Imagine his return to the cabinet room.

"Striving for a suitably appropriate air of modesty, he arrives just as Christopher Pyne is regaling the colleagues with an old joke about John Lennon being asked whether Ringo is the best drummer in the world. "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles," screams Christopher in a marvellous attempt at a Liverpool accent.

Cabinet members fall off their chairs slapping their thighs and guffawing before registering the slight figure of Hunt sidling to his chair, blushing and festooned with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, traditional among the wise judges of Dubai or thereabouts.

"Greg, congratulations, such an honour," his colleagues gush through gritted teeth, regaining their chairs and a measure of equilibrium.

"We're on a roll," cries Prime Minister Turnbull. "First we make Philip Ruddock our Human Rights Envoy and now this!

"Greg Hunt: Best Minister in the World. The international community is agog."

His wife was heard to comment "Best minister... Huh! He still has to carry out the garbage bins!"

True that, case in point American sports have world series or world championship but only American teams play, no one else invited or takes part, surely to call themselves champion of the world is arrogant and ignorant. Lol.

The moniker was coined when only Americans played a game which originated in America. The champion of the series was by default the world champion of baseball. These days it is a bit hyperbolic, but suggesting it smack of arrogance and ignorance is over the top.

I thought Baseball originated from the girls game in England called Rounders, just saying, just as US football originated from Rugby
