It's 90% certain that my husband will be needing an apartment in Jakarta starting approximately 1 December 2018. Below are his preferences. All ideas welcome:

+ Should be close to Blok M, preferably within walking distance of the ASEAN Secretariat.

+ Prefer unfurnished or partially furnished rather than fully furnished. If fully furnished, it should be possible to move things around/take out an existing desk so that he can have his own large desk.

+ Pet friendly would be very nice, though probably not required.

+ 2 bedroom, or one bedroom and a distinct office space.

+ Serviced would be nice - not absolutely necessary.

+ Monthly rent should probably be in the $2000 - $2700/month range.

Agents can feel free to PM me but DO NOT send me your WhatsApp number or otherwise try to be in touch via text. I'm living in Hawaii now and will not be able to respond via phone/text/WhatsApp. (My husband is in Jakarta but travels a lot and is very busy - I'll only pass on his contact information after I'm sure it's a worthwhile lead. I'm trying to help him out by doing the initial screening process.)

    Terima kasih di depan.

    Puspawarna,

Don't have any info on an apartment for you, but just wondering about your comment about not using WhatsApp. I still use it on a weekly if not daily basis to talk to friends in Jakarta via text or voice and it's free. Of course you just may not want to be inundated with WhatsApp messages from every agent in South Jakarta.
I will send this to my sister-in-law who is a property agent in Kemang. She may know of something that would suit your husband.

Thanks Vanuatu! You're right, using WhatsApp is not out of the question, but I don't have it installed on my US phone and don't particularly want yet another distracting app on my phone. I could use my Jakarta phone, but I am not in the habit of turning that on more than 1-2 times a week.

So maybe I'll change my mind if I need to!

I find it handy to have on my US phone and I just have the contacts of people in Indonesia that I want to keep in touch with.

Also on the off chance that you are on Oahu this weekend, the Indonesian Community is having a belated pot luck to celebrate Indonesian Independence Day at Ala Moana Beach park. Traditional food and games, they usually get close to 100 people attending.

I asked my wife where her bosses who preferred Blok M (and whose families stayed in Singapore since they had kids in high school) used to stay. This is one example:

    You can guess their citizenship...
